Russia and Rwanda discussed areas for joint volunteer work

On June 9, 2025, a working meeting was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda in Moscow, dedicated to the development of international volunteer cooperation between Russia and Rwanda. The event was attended by Dmitry Kuznetsov, a member of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, his assistant, Pastor Alexander Semchenko of the Christian Church on Shelepikha, and Pavel Kolesnikov, Chairman of the Friends of Rwanda Club in the Russian Federation. The Rwandan side was represented by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Rwanda to Russia, Major General Joseph Nzabamvita.

At the meeting, the participants discussed the prospects for developing the volunteer movement between the two countries, issues related to supporting youth initiatives and educational exchanges, as well as the possibilities for implementing joint humanitarian projects in the fields of healthcare, ecology, and culture.

Ambassador Joseph Nzabamvita emphasized the importance of strengthening friendly ties between Russia and Rwanda, and expressed his readiness to contribute to the implementation of joint programs. In turn, Dmitry Kuznetsov highlighted the significance of people-to-people diplomacy and volunteering as tools for international cooperation.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a roadmap for joint projects, as well as to hold a series of events involving volunteers and public organizations. The meeting was held in a warm and constructive atmosphere, confirming the mutual interest in further developing the partnership between Russia and Rwanda.
