A press conference dedicated to the development of international volunteerism and the role of traditional spiritual and moral values in humanitarian initiatives was held in Moscow - "In the name of Goodness: traditional spiritual and moral values in international volunteer practice." A joint event of the African Initiative news agency and the Volunteers of Peace platform was held on May 16 at the Federation Tower on Presnenskaya Embankment.
During the eventful program, new projects of the Volunteers of Peace platform aimed at expanding humanitarian activities in different countries of the world were presented. Among the key initiatives are large—scale programs in Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia, which will be held from May 22 to July 8, 2025. The volunteers plan to focus on current issues: the fight against female circumcision in Ethiopia, the construction of wells to provide clean water in Tanzania, as well as feeding and school construction projects in Kenya. There, volunteers will not only help with meals and household needs, but also organize lessons, workshops and leisure activities for children.
Also, a separate initiative of the platform continues throughout the year in Kenya: volunteers are engaged in distributing food, organizing educational classes, conducting master classes, as well as taking care of the nutrition and hygiene of children.
A special place in the program was occupied by the project in the Kherson region on the territories of the Bare Pier and Alyoshki, which will be held in July-August 2025. The participants will provide humanitarian assistance, distribute food, medicines and personal hygiene products to local residents, provide moral support through communication, as well as organize bread baking, providing residents with the necessary flour.
The initiatives of HOPE Worldwide Indonesia have not been ignored, where volunteers within the HOPE Care+ project from August to December 2025 will help organize public health campaigns, conduct medical examinations and wellness sessions, as well as support the mental health and emotional well-being of the population.
The main goal of the platform is to bring together politicians, patrons and activists for the development of the volunteer movement based on universal and traditional spiritual and moral values. As Dmitry Kuznetsov, the Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, curator of the Volunteers of Peace project, noted: "Today it is especially important for us to join forces to help people and build an international dialogue based on common spiritual and moral guidelines. It is through joint good deeds that we can overcome cultural and political barriers."
The lively speech of the volunteers caused a special response among the guests. "We see how our help really changes people's lives," said Victoria Sanchez, coordinator of the initiative in Kenya. — For many children, the simple opportunity to study or get a hot lunch is the first step towards their future. This inspires us to continue and expand our projects despite the difficulties."
The event became a platform for open communication between representatives of government agencies, public organizations and international projects, confirming the importance of humanitarian cooperation and the promotion of traditional values through volunteerism.
