On the eve of the Christmas holidays, State Duma deputy and Zakhar Prilepin's assistant Dmitry Kuznetsov and Ugandan parliament member Alan Atuganza visited prisoners in Russia and Africa and gave gifts. The prison infirmary in Uganda received a stethoscope and thermometer, and the pre-trial detention center in Moscow received sets for drawing, handicrafts and spiritual literature. “Charity should be one of the spiritual and moral values of BRICS. Visited minors. It is easier to believe that their lives will change for the better if we, adults, do not abandon them. It would be good if there would also be an amnesty for the presidential elections,” Kuznetsov commented on the event in his Telegram channel. African prisons suffer from poor sanitation and overcrowding. The most overcrowded prisons in the world are in Zambia: with a maximum capacity of 9,000 prisoners, there are more than 25,000 inmates. Because of this, defendants often have to wait for trial in custody for several years. By their example, the deputies wanted to show that in a cruel and unjust world, faith, kindness and mercy and other Christian values on which Russia rests are above politics. “As disciples of Jesus and legislators, we have the power to use our legal influence to promote the victory of good over evil,” Ugandan lawmaker Atagunza said in a letter. The organizing committee of the World Christian Association of Parliamentarians called on Christian MPs from all over the world to join this charitable initiative.
